Watch: KTM 790 Adventure R Rundown With Quinn Cody

Baja champ Quinn Cody talks top features and reasons behind the design.

Published on 06.10.2019
Top 10 Dakar Rally finisher and 4x Baja 1000 Champ Quinn Cody gives us a rundown of what went into developing what he calls “the most capable off-road adventure bike ever built.” As far back as 2016, KTM engineers tapped talented off-road racers like Quinn Cody and Chris Birch to help steer the direction of development for their all-new middleweight adventure bike platform – the KTM 790 Adventure R.

Starting from the ground up, with a completely new design, the development team gave test riders free reign to push the envelope on what an adventure bike could and should be capable of in the dirt. With each prototype tested, engineers incorporated feedback directly into the next design as the ideal adventure machine for the hard-core off-road rider began to take shape.

In this video, Quinn talks about their design philosophy and describes some of the engineering decisions that enabled the impressive handling characteristics of the 790 Adventure R’s chassis. He also discusses the power control systems that help improve performance while also making the bike more rideable in difficult terrain.

With the release of the 790 Adventure R, KTM looks well positioned to dominate the hardcore off-road adventure bike market – and it’s no surprise with accomplished off-road racers like Quinn Cody helping to drive the direction of the development. Great info, I was wondering when these would start trickling into dealers. I’ve never bought a new moto but this is a seriously tempting bike!

Standard 790 is a piece of shit The seat is like a brick and it handles like a delivery boy bike. Great power though. The R is somewhat better but still not like they all bragging about. For the price may as well get the 1090 Since its almost the same price

I’ve had significant saddle time on this bike and you couldn’t be more wrong.
