2022 KTM 390 Adventure Receives Key Updates and New Colors
The small-bore bike gets new ride modes, upgraded wheels and a fresh look.
Since the KTM 390 Adventure was introduced last year, the small-bore adventurer has been praised for being a confidence inspiring machine at a price point that makes it easy for new ADV riders to get started on an orange bike. Thanks to ex-Baja Champ Quinn Cody, who helped develop suspension specs for the Americas and Europe, the entry-level ADV has good spring rates and a range of damping settings so you aren’t stuck with whatever comes from the factory. Now, this compact model returns for 2022 with a fresh look and a few updates designed to boost its versatility.
For the new model year, the 390 Adventure is getting a set of even more robust 19” front and 17” rear cast wheels fitted with tubeless Continental TKC 70 tires. The construction of the wheel components is based around five spokes – instead of six – thus permitting increased stiffness and resistance for the rims. And for owners that will spend more time off-road, there is still the option to upgrade to a set of spoke-wheels from the KTM PowerParts catalog for even more robustness beyond the beaten track.
Further enhancing its potential over a range of terrain, the 2022 model’s extensive list of electronic features has been amplified with the addition of ‘Street’ and ‘Offroad’ modes for Traction Control. Selecting ‘OffRoad’ will give the KTM a degree of rear wheel slip to enable even easier use of the bike in loose or wet terrain. Moreover, the OffRoad TC will remain activated in the event of stalling the engine.
KTM is also giving the 390 Adventure a fresh look for the new model year with the introduction of new graphics featuring two color combination options: an orange/teal version and a more subdued orange/gray blend. According to the Orange marque the new graphics were designed to highlight the sharp lines of the bike and are inspired by “the race-winning Rally machines around the globe.”
The 2022 KTM 390 Adventure will be available from February 2022 onward. No pricing information has been announced yet. For more information, visit ktm.com.

I hope when the 490 comes out it is also offered in a proper R config. That will be killer.
Wish they’d toss some spoked wheels on it at least.
It’s an option. If they made it standard, they’d also raise the price. The bike is meant to be at an entry level price point. They want riders to either upgrade the components of their bike or replace their bike with one more capable as their skills and confidence increase.
Are the enhanced electronics backward compatible with the 2020 model?
Put a deposit down in April’22, (for a 2022 model) bike delayed in production, but arrived Aug’22 with the ‘old’ 12 spoke wheels. Dealer is simply ‘it is what it is’ and no reply from KTM NA yet. Bit of a bummer, anyone seeing this?
