Beta Alp 4.0 and X: New Budget-Friendly Dual Sports Coming To US
The Italian brand brings two new rugged and accessible machines to our shores.
Best known for their trials and enduro motorcycles, Beta has announced the upcoming arrival of the Alp 4.0 dual sport to the United States. The bike has been produced and sold in Europe for more than twenty five years and will make its North American debut as a 2026 model with an overhauled design. Additionally, a more street-oriented version, the Alp X, will accompany its arrival.

Both the new Alp 4.0 and Alp X use a six-speed 350cc liquid-cooled single engine, which Beta says was developed in partnership with Tayo Motorcycles just for this platform. The powerplant produces a claimed 35 horsepower @9,500 rpm, offering a maximum speed of over 130 km/h (80 mph). And while the two models share the same engine, they differ in their fuel mapping, plus the Alp 4.0 is geared slightly lower for off-road work.

To keep the adventure going Beta states the Alp’s 2.9 gallon (11-liter) fuel tank with a 0.6 gallon (2.3 liter) reserve allows for ‘high mileage use’ thanks to the bike’s ‘reduced fuel consumption.’ Fuel efficiency is claimed to be 67.2 mpg (3.5 liters / 100 km), which if true will take you to nearly 200 miles between fuel stops.

The frame of both models is a steel perimeter while the front fork and rear shock provide 7.3” and 7.7” of wheel travel respectively. Passenger footpegs and handlebars come standard for comfortable two-up riding.
Beta states they designed the Alp platform with user-friendly features in mind, including a manageable seat height and a low center of gravity. The Alp 4.0 caters to off-road enthusiasts with its 21″/18″ wheel setup and a 34-inch seat height. Meanwhile, the more road-oriented Alp X features smaller 19″/17″ wheels and a slightly lower 33.6-inch saddle height. The two models also have a slight weight difference, with the X variant coming in 5 pounds heavier at a dry weight of 313 pounds.

Both models are equipped with a 290 mm disc at the front and 220 mm at the rear, with Nissin brake master cylinder and calipers. The standard equipment also includes a BOSCH ABS system, which can be disengaged in the Offroad map but is re-enabled automatically whenever the bike is restarted.

Enablement of the ABS can be conveniently checked via the indicator on the TFT color dash, which also provides information on fuel level, range and engaged gear, as well as traditional information such as speedometer readout, tachometer, and partial and total milometer. There are also two riding modes, one for on-road and one for off-road.

In regards to the aesthetics, the Alp X features more tapered bodywork while those of the Alp 4.0 wrap around more. The Alp X’s lines integrate with the new LED headlamp, while on the 4.0 model, the lighting is provided by a headlight with a more square look, still featuring LED lighting technology.

The range of accessories for the new ALP models includes handguards, panniers, a top case, crash bars, as well as a heavy-duty skid plate, and radiator guard. More accessories will be introduced over the next few months.
Pricing and Availability
The 2026 Alp 4.0 and Alp X will hit Beta dealers in June with an MSRP of $6,490. Both models come with a two-year, unlimited mileage limited warranty and will be offered in two colors: red or white for the Alp 4.0 and a dark or light gray for the Alp X.

Beta states that “production is limited, so it is encouraged to leave a deposit with your dealer to reserve yours.” For more information visit Beta’s USA website.

No comments within a day. You guys just dont know how lucky u r! Okay, its not sexy, okay, its no BMW for 30 grand, okay, no japonese reliability, okay no was-cool- now-broke KTM. Its italien w a chinese engine. **** yeah. I own three Betas and those things r more fun than anything i had before, especially in affortable offroad. Rock’n’Roll.
Lol you funny man
Really happy to see these coming to the US! I hope they sell well and prove to be reliable. The Alp X is exactly the kind of bike I’ve been wanting to see from the Japanese for a long time; a sort of neo-retro scrambler. I love it!
I purchased the Alp X a few months ago, nice bike for touring the mountain roads here in the Dominican Republic and for going back and forth to town. The power is very smooth and linear with a top speed as indicated by Beta. The suspension is very compliant for small hits but I find it a little too soft ( I weigh 155 lbs). My back ground is off road riding, currently have a 23 250rr and a 21 300 Xtrainer, both bikes have MX Tech suspension.
Ohlins has a shock upgrade which I will purchase, still looking to find an upgrade for the forks. This is definitely not an offroad single track bike, don’t buy it if you think you will be doing any hard enduro..lol. Great bike but only for mild single track and fire roads and of course great for city riding.
