Big Changes For 2024 Husqvarna FE350/500s Dual Sport Models

Sweeping upgrades coming to the chassis, bodywork, lighting, and more.

Published on 06.09.2023

Husqvarna Motorcycles has officially announced its FEs dual-sport range including upcoming changes for 2024. Thoroughly revised for the new year, the next-generation FE 350s and FE 501s get sweeping improvements to the chassis, bodywork, lighting and more.

Up front, the latest models now boast all-new 48mm WP XACT Closed Cartridge forks which incorporate a mid-valve piston for smooth action and consistent performance. Moreover, the addition of a new hydrostop, effective in the last 68 mm of travel, has now increased performance on heavy landings to maintain maximum forward momentum. Out back, a redesigned WP XACT shock features a new piston to improve comfort and while now 100 grams lighter and 15 mm shorter, the 300 mm of travel remains unchanged. Both the fork and shock settings can be adjusted by hand for a fast and easy personalized setup.

The 2024 models also get a new chromium molybdenum steel frame with optimized wall thickness in high stress areas while a new shock mounting that is no longer connected to the main tube improves anti-squat behavior.  The metallic blue powder coating frame is complete with redesigned standard frame protectors offering improved grip in all conditions. Additionally, the mounting position for the now larger footrests on the new frame brings them inwards, which makes them less susceptible to catching on the ground through deep ruts.

At the rear of the main frame is a new hybrid subframe made from 60% polyamide and 40% aluminum, which Husqvarna says offers exceptional strength and durability at a low overall weight of just 3.9 lbs (1.8 kg).

Both FEs models benefit from new and much more compact engines. These are positioned in the frame two degrees backwards when compared to the previous generation, which further centralizes mass and contributes to the improved anti-squat behavior of the chassis. In addition, these engines are designed to position all major components as centrally as possible for improved handling and to generate maximum torque and power.

The new 4-stroke models also get a new swingarm manufactured from a single piece of aluminum using an improved casting process for optimal stiffness and a 190 gram weight reduction. in order to optimize and match the flex characteristics of the new frame, a new 22 mm rear axle is fitted while a redesigned chain guard made with a rounder profile helps prevent catching on external objects.

A new high-grip seat cover offering an improved rider triangle ensures more knee contact and better control, while a redesigned, more robust skid plate offers better frame and engine protection. The updated bodywork also benefits from a redesigned headlight producing a brighter light output, which is also installed using a more efficient and user-friendly mounting system.

Monitoring the electronics comes courtesy of a totally independent Offroad Control Unit under the seat, which replaces the use of electronic fuses and relays. In the event of any electrical component failure, the outputs are deactivated individually, with the error status of each unit indicated by a red or green LED light. This makes for quick and easy troubleshooting on the trail. The full enduro lineup is complete with premium components shared across the range, including new BRAKTEC brakes with high performance GSK discs, a combined start/stop button and ProTaper handlebars.

2024 Technical Highlights
