A brake issue triggers recall on over 5,000 units.

While owning several brands comes with the advantage of sharing technologies across models, it also means that when something goes wrong the issue can cross over between them. That is what Pierer is experiencing in the latest recall filed by KTM North America, which involves certain 2022-2024 Husqvarna FE 350s, FE 501s, and 2024-2025 GASGAS ES 350 and ES 500 motorcycles.

The recall, which affects a total of 5,116 units, was issued due to a brake problem. According to the defect report, irregularities were found in the casting structure of one of the brake supplier’s (J.Juan) subcontractors. In affected models, this can lead to the front brake caliper cracking or breaking in the area around the upper guide pin resulting in a dangerous reduction of the braking system’s effectiveness.

Irregularities were found in the casting structure of one of the brake supplier’s subcontractors. In the worst case, this can lead to the front brake caliper cracking in the area around the upper guide pin.

KTM says the problem was discovered in certain motorcycles equipped with BRAKTEC front brake calipers during their ongoing market monitoring and no injuries or deaths have been reported. To correct the issue in production, J.Juan has changed to a subcontractor with no casting issue.

Not Brembo. Just one example of why KTM is failing. They failed their customers first.
