Leatt Teases Their First-Ever Adventure Helmet
An adaptable helmet kit with everything needed for a variety of adventures.
Just 8 months after announcing their entry into the Adventure segment, South African protective gear and riding apparel maker Leatt, has unveiled its first-ever adventure motorcycle helmets. The all-new ADV lids, available in lightweight carbon 9.5 and standard 8.5 models, promise essential road and off-road features to offer a highly-adaptable solution for Adventure and Dual Sport riders.
Leatt has announced just a few details but they say the helmet will be sold as a kit that includes a photochromic shield which makes use of the latest UV technology, as well as an additional clear shield. An included Pinlock 120 XLT shield ensures fog-free visibility in humid conditions, plus the windscreen is a quick-release design making it easy to throw on the included set of 4.5 Velocity goggles when the road turns to dirt.
Both the Leatt ADV 9.5 Carbon and the 8.5 adventure helmets have ECE 22.06 and DOT certifications. They are also one of the few premium helmets on the market that feature anti-rotational tech, increasing rider safety by reducing impact forces and brain rotational acceleration.
Details have been sparse from Leatt but looking at the design, there are some similarities to Leatt’s Moto 8.5 and 9.5 line but also significant differences that signal this helmet was made specifically for adventure riding rather than just throwing a shield on an existing motocross helmet. As far as colors, from what’s been revealed so far it appears the 8.5 range will come in a hi-viz yellow, royal (white/blue/red), stealth black and white, while the carbon-fiber 9.5 model will arrive in black with gray and red highlights.
With the release of Leatt’s new adventure helmets, this completes the company’s head-to-toe lineup in the Adventure segment, designed for riders on a broad range of journeys. Leatt hasn’t announced full specs or pricing details but we expect to get the full scoop on the new lids at the start of December. In addition, Leatt has confirmed the new ADV helmets are planned to arrive on the market mid-December so stay tuned.
