Norton Releases Specs Of New Twin-Powered 585cc ADV Models

The reborn brand resumes its comeback with the introduction of a midsize twin ADV.

Published on 06.11.2026

Norton is stepping into the adventure‑touring world for the first time with the launch of the Atlas and Atlas GT, a move that signals how seriously the company intends to rebuild its future. Few motorcycle brands carry as much history — or as many hard lessons — as Norton. More than a century of racing glory and iconic machines was followed by a turbulent modern era that nearly erased the marque altogether. Its revival began in 2020 when TVS Motor Company acquired the storied manufacturer, setting the stage for a long‑term restructuring effort. The Atlas platform now emerges as one of the clearest signs of that reboot taking shape.

Designed and engineered at Norton’s Solihull headquarters, the Atlas and Atlas GT introduce the company into the middleweight adventure‑touring category with a platform built around a new 585cc liquid‑cooled parallel twin. The engine produces a claimed 69 bhp at 9,300 rpm and 42 ft-lbs (57 Nm) at 7,500 rpm, using a 270‑degree crank and a unique APS‑coated cylinder surface. Norton highlights a broad, tractable torque curve supported by several durability‑focused engineering choices: twin oil pumps to reduce internal friction and stabilize lubrication, a knock sensor for inconsistent fuel conditions, a protected air‑intake system, and a curved radiator designed to optimize cooling efficiency. A single‑sprocket DOHC layout and downdraft intake ports contribute to compact packaging and improved airflow. A slipper clutch and bidirectional quickshifter come standard.

Both models share a steel trellis frame that uses the engine as a stressed member. Wet weight is listed at 414.5 lbs (188 kg) for the Atlas and 423.2 lbs (192 kg) for the higher-spec variant Atlas Apex, placing them toward the lighter end of the segment. Geometry and suspension travel differ to match each bike’s intended role: the Atlas is tuned for mixed‑surface adaptability with 7.1” (180 mm) of travel front and rear, while the Atlas GT adopts a more road‑focused setup with 5.5” (140 mm) of travel and sharper steering geometry.

Suspension is fully adjustable KYB at both ends with a 43 mm USD fork that offers 20‑step compression and rebound adjustability, while the rear shock uses stroke‑dependent damping technology to maintain composure across varying terrain. A hand‑operated hydraulic preload adjuster also allows quick tuning for luggage or passenger weight. Norton says the baseline suspension setup aims for predictability and clarity rather than excessive stiffness.

Braking is handled by dual semi‑floating 310 mm front discs with radial calipers and a 270 mm single rear disc. Higher-spec Apex variants add electronic combined braking and a vehicle‑hold function. Wheels further separate the two models: the Atlas runs a 19/17‑inch spoked wheel combination for better off‑road versatility, while the Atlas GT uses 17‑inch cast wheels front and rear for a more road‑oriented feel.

Electronics are built around a Bosch six‑axis IMU, bringing a package that includes lean‑sensitive ABS, cornering traction control, wheelie control, slide control and cornering cruise control. Norton says the calibration philosophy prioritizes natural intervention and avoids excessive configuration layers. Hill‑hold assist, multiple ride modes and an 8‑inch TFT touchscreen with integrated navigation and app connectivity round out the system.

Ergonomics were shaped through CFD and wind‑tunnel development, with attention to airflow management and rider movement. Seat height is 33.3” (845 mm) on the Atlas and 33.1” (815 mm) on the GT. Apex versions add an adjustable windscreen, heated grips, cornering lights and a puddle lamp to assist low lit parking conditions. Practical features include integrated luggage mounting points, keyless functionality, a USB‑C port and, on Apex models, tire‑pressure monitoring.

Lighting is fully LED, with twin projector headlights and dynamic intensity scaling. Handguard‑integrated indicators maintain a clean look, and dynamic brake‑light functionality enhances visibility under hard braking.

Both models come with a 36‑month warranty (regional terms vary) and Norton Roadside Assist. The company says U.S. pricing will be revealed closer to launch but an official release date has not been announced yet.
