The 2021 Ultimate Adventure Giveaway has come to an end and a winner has been selected! Thank you to everyone who participated. We’d like to congratulate our winner, Kevin Proper of Oak Harbor, Washington. When he received the winner notification email, Kevin almost didn’t open it. He saw the email subject line on his phone while leaving work and assumed it was just an announcement of ‘someone else’ winning the prizes. Luckily, curiosity got the best of him and he opened the email once he arrived home. “Are you kidding me? This can’t be for real,” Kevin recalled saying to himself as the realization set in that ‘he’ was in fact the winner.

Kevin is a retired US Navy Master Chief Petty Officer who served for a little over 29 years. He got his start on two wheels at the age of five on a ‘Lil Indian’ mini bike, and rode an 80cc Yamaha enduro throughout his teens. After a long hiatus from motorcycles, he picked up a Harley Fatboy in 2002. He rode cruisers for several years until the adventure riding bug hit him. After several years of dreaming about it, he finally bought a brand new R1200GS in 2018 which he continues to ride today. In the short term, Kevin would like to explore more around the Cascade Mountain Range near where he lives but he dreams of one day riding the European Alps and South America.

As someone looking to improve his skills in the dirt, Kevin is excited about using all of the prizes he won. “The REV’IT! Gore-Tex Dominator suit will definitely help riding in the wet Pacific North West. The Mosko Reckless 80L will help when I am riding off-road in the Cascades so I don’t have to bag-up my rigid bags if I lay the bike down. The Dunlop Trailmax Mission Adventure Tires will be great as well since I have been wanting to replace the stock road-biased tires on my BMW,” says Kevin. He also mentioned he’s happy to be able to save money on tire changes with the new Rabaconda and that he’s looking forward to trying out the Shoei Hornet X2 dual sport helmet. As for the Cyclops Auxiliary lights, he plans to put those on his wife’s F750GS to help improve her safety during their night time excursions. But what he’s most excited about is the RawHyde Training. “Ever since my wife got her BMW in 2019 she has wanted the two of us to attend RawHyde’s training. As a fairly frugal man I was not keen on spending that much money, but now we can get two spots for the price of one!”
