5 Stories of Adventure in the Land of the Lemurs
Tales of exotic wildlife and unique cultural experiences touring Madagascar.
1. Don’t Fear the Lemur!
Touratech founder Herbert Schwarz and his wife Ramona travel to Madagascar to achieve a long-time dream of touring the country. They begin their 2,000 mile (3,200 km) journey in the colorful capital city of Antananarivo. Leaving the busy streets of the city, they head north to the resort island of Nosy Bé. Here they visit with friendly natives while exploring the beautiful beaches and remnants of French colonial architecture.
Back on the mainland, they head east and hit rough roads touring Madagascar’s remote East Coast. They come to the end of the road in the Antalaha region and need to take a boat south to reconnect to the highway. While they wait for their ship the Jenna III to finish with repairs, they absorb the culture for several days .
Having enjoyed an idyllic vacation up to this point, they now enter the most difficult part of their journey as they struggle through sea sickness for 26 hours on the Jenna III. To read more about their journey check out the full story on Cycleworld.
Touratech has released a documentary film of their trip to Madagascar. See the trailer for their Adventure Touring DVD – Madagascar Diary.
