5 Stories of Adventure in the Land of the Lemurs
Tales of exotic wildlife and unique cultural experiences touring Madagascar.
4. Motorbiking Madagascar 2013
Kevin Fairburn, an Adventure Rider from Australia, visited Madagascar in 2013. He traveled the country on a 1995 Honda Transalp 600, which he rented from a German expatriate living in the nation’s capital, Antananarivo.
Kevin has produced a two-part video documentary about his trip to Madagascar. The series is very well produced for an amateur documentary and gives a real sense of what it’s like touring Madagascar on a motorcycle. The video includes a narrative on the country and its people which is very informative for those that want to know more about Madagascar’s history.
The documentary includes excellent footage of his travels to the West Coast town of Morondava to see the giant Baobabs trees. He also gets an English guide to take him into the forests to see lemurs jumping through trees. There are many touching scenes where Kevin gives away toys to the children of Madagascar. From the smiles on their faces, you can see how a small gift can make a tremendous impact.
In the second part of Kevin’s journey, he travels to the resort island of Nosy Bé and rents a Chinese Lifan 125cc to get around. He witnesses some unique cultural experiences like Zebu cart racing and plays with friendly lemurs. You can take a look at his collection of photos from the trip on Flickr and view his two-part documentary below.

Thanks for promoting my video and sharing the adventure with the world. Madagascar is one of the most fascinating countries I have had the privilege to ride through.
