Motorcycle Travel Goes Mainstream With Epic Selfie Video
Adventure Rider Alex Chacón's travel video generates 6 million views.

Motorcycle travel stories usually don’t get much attention outside of the adventure riding community. What seemed like just another cool motorcycle travel video a few weeks ago, has now gone viral and crossed-over into the mainstream.
Adventure Rider Alex Chacón traveled 600 days across 36 countries riding more than 125,000 miles. Along each picturesque stop of his journey, he made sure to capture the moment with a 360-degree video selfie. Alex created a compilation video of his travels and after two weeks of being published, it has now been viewed six million times on YouTube. The success of the video has led to major media exposure on CBS, Good Morning America, USA Today and more.
Alex Chacón started his journey after completing a degree in Biomedical Sciences, Nutrition and Chemistry from the University of Texas. He sold all of his possessions to begin his trip of self discovery without knowing how far he could go. He began documenting his epic adventure with pictures and videos posted on his Modern Motorcycle Diaries Blog. Alex was only able to continue his journey by living cheaply, the kindness of strangers and support from fans following him on his website.
The trip was not just for Alex’s own entertainment though. Alex raised money for the orphanage, Los Ojos de Dios in Cd. Juarez Mexico and the Children of Uganda in Africa. Working directly with less fortunate children and making a difference in their lives made his travels even more satisfying. He had his fair share of challenges along the way as well, including being arrested in Honduras, crossing landmine fields in Chile, four days without food in Patagonia and a deadly parasite in India.

Alex is also a talented photographer and you should see the amazing photos from his trip posted on his blog. We applaud Alex for the excellent work he’s done to raise the visibility of motorcycle travel in mainstream consciousness. It’s a remarkable accomplishment for one rider on a small travel budget using a GoPro on a stick. His videos will no doubt inspire many new riders to embark on their own world tours.
