KTM Releases Details On Exclusive 890 Adventure R Rally For 2024
Restricted to a run of just 700 units worldwide.
KTM just lifted the cover off their race-bred 890 Adventure R Rally model for 2024. Inspired by KTM’s Dakar-winning 450 Rally, this machine is equipped with race-spec components on par with the full-factory rally bike and a host of other premium parts from the top shelf of KTM’s PowerParts catalog. However, just as with previous year models, this Rally version has been restricted to a run of just 700 units worldwide so you’ll have to be fast to catch one.
The limited-edition KTM 890 Adventure Rally features a 889cc powerplant pumping out 105 horsepower and 73.76 ft-lbs of torque. Suspension duties are carried out by the lightweight WP XPLOR PRO 7548 fork system using Cone Valve technology, combined with the WP XPLOR PRO 6746 shock absorber, that are both from the WP Pro Components program. With its 270 mm of travel, this premium suspension is designed for aggressive off-road riding while providing a comfortable ride for globetrotters carrying large amounts of luggage or a passenger on their journeys – both on asphalt and offroad.
To handle more demanding off-road riding, the KTM 890 Adventure R Rally boasts heavy duty wheels with 2.15 x 21″ and 4.00 x 18″ Excel rims, a race-specific Rally seat, a high front fender and Rally footpegs for increased feeling and grip on long liaisons. Enhanced protection is delivered by carbon tank guards which combine with further protection for the engine, rear master cylinder and suspension. Moreover, a Supersprox-Stealth rear sprocket is utilized as is a brand-new rally-derived and eye-catching functional design.
To shed some weight the Rally model is equipped with the lightweight Akrapovič Slip-on Line exhaust system that is 35% lighter than standard, similar to that used by KTM’s factory racing teams. To complete the package, the new model is equipped with a host of electronics that include a 5” TFT display, Motor Slip Regulation, Cruise Control, Quickshifter+, Rally Mode, Connectivity Unit kit, Offroad ABS system, Traction Control, TURN-BY-TURN+ navigation, and multiple ride modes to select depending on terrain.

Pricing for the limited-edition model has been set at $21,499 (excluding fees) with a down payment of $890 required to reserve one. I just can’t get on board with those ugly tanks bulging out the side. I would rather do more gas stops or take a rotopac. Just can’t do it.
For some looks are half the reason to own a bike. To others, what works best is what is beautiful. Personally I believe that form should follow function, and the 890 Adventure is an awesome handling bike.
