MV Agusta Teams Up With KTM To Distribute Their Bikes In N. America
The Italian manufacturer looks to boost growth in US, Canada and Mexico.
With their first adventure motorcycles expected to launch as soon as next year, MV Agusta has announced it is partnering up with KTM AG for the distribution of the iconic Schiranna bikes in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The cross-manufacturing deal, which extends over several years, focuses not only on the distribution but the promotion and customer service of the MV Agusta range of motorcycles by KTM AG’s North American subsidiary.
The agreement is part of MV Agusta’s strategic plan, which envisions a significant growth in the coming years due in part to their entry into the ADV market with models like the 5.5 and 9.5 Lucky Explorer. KTM AG group will create a dedicated US-based legal entity, which will be in charge of all MV Agusta operations in North America.
MV Agusta is counting on KTM AG’s extensive and solid commercial resources to help boost the growth of the company in North America. Especially, since its dealer support in the region is not necessarily something MV is known for. “I am confident that KTM’s extensive and professional sales organization paired with the strong appeal of our brand in the region will bring great benefits to both companies. Thanks to our cooperation we will create synergies that will enable us to accelerate our growth strategy in North America,” said Timur Sardarov, CEO at MV Agusta.
The two manufacturers also confirmed that moving forward, MV Agusta motorcycles will be distributed through both, select KTM AG dealers as well as existing and new MV Agusta stores. “Taking on the distribution of the MV Agusta brand will complement our extensive premium motorcycle range,” explained Hubert Trunkenpolz, Member of the Executive Board at KTM AG. “With the addition of the most iconic Italian luxury motorcycle brand to our KTM North America operations, we are able to ensure support to all North American motorcycle enthusiasts as well as bringing exciting new business opportunities to existing and new dealers.”
“We are extremely excited to start a new partnership with such a historic motorcycle brand. Our brands are going from strength to strength everywhere in the world, particularly in North America where we will exceed 100,000-unit sales in 2022 with the KTM, Husqvarna and GASGAS motorcycle brands,” added Trunkenpolz.

Knowing MV (I used to sell them, or at least try to), the bikes will be expensive, unreliable, but incredibly good to ride…when they run .
With as terrible of warranty support KTM supplies this will be a disaster for MV buyers
The only smart move is not to buy a bike that KTM USA sells. I speak from experience with the miserable insolent people who work for KTM USA. They will never get another dollar from me.
Warranty issues are a direct reflection of the dealer’s ability and willingness to perform the warranty claim and follow ups necessary to get the claim covered. Warranties are a bit of an art and not all dealers excel at it at worst they don’t even try.
So, KTM, a company with their own reliability problems (which have gotten somewhat better) decides to take on MV Augusta which has even worse reliability problems. What B-school did the execs go to?
Well, if KTM and MV reliability is as bad as you say then anyone walking into a KTM dealer is already willing to put up with some wrenching. MV would do a lot worse to have, say, a partnership with Honda! 😉
