Yamaha and ‘Riders For Health’ Join To Save Lives With Motorcycles
Bringing vital medical supplies and treatments to remote areas one ride at a time.
Motorcycles bring joy to us but in some of the poorest places in Africa, they can literally save lives by bringing medical supplies and treatment to very remote areas. With this goal in mind, the non-profit ‘Riders for Health’ works to provide healthcare workers with motorcycles so they are able to bring these vital services to communities in hard to reach regions.
To boost awareness, Yamaha has made ‘Riders for Health’ the title sponsor of its Tenere World Raid Team, which will take on the Africa Eco Race and other competitions with the upcoming Tenere 700 ‘World Raid’ model. Aboard the new T7, will be Dakar Veteran Alessandro Botturi and trials champ Spaniard Pol Tarres – who made history with a top 20 finish in the infamous Romaniacs Enduro aboard a Tenere 700.
Riders for Health has long used Yamaha motorcycles to bring medical services to remote areas, making the organization a natural fit as a sponsor. The partnership will run for at least three years and will strive to bring awareness and raise funds for the charity’s projects.
“Yamaha are close to our hearts. We have used their reliable AG bikes for over 30 years in our African programmes and their racing teams have supported our fundraising since the start of the charity. We are excited to announce this new, landmark three-year partnership between Riders for Health, Two Wheels for Life and Yamaha. Together we will show that motorcycles save lives.” – Andrea Coleman, Co-Founder Riders for Health and Two Wheels for Life
Over the coming months in the lead up to the start of the Africa Eco Race this October, Yamaha, Riders for Health and its UK-based fundraising arm, Two Wheels for Life, will launch fundraising activities.
