Yamaha Tenere 700 And Tenere 700 Rally Receive Updates For 2023
The popular adventurer gets a new TFT, 3-mode ABS, BT connectivity and more.
Since launching overseas in 2019, the Tenere 700 has found a sweet spot in the fast-growing adventure segment, becoming one of the most sought after ADV bikes to come along in a while. For 2023, Yamaha Europe is refreshing both the standard and higher spec’d Rally edition models with several upgrades designed to boost their versatility.
New 5-inch TFT Color Dash
Doing away with the dated look of the LCD dash, both the Ténéré 700 and Ténéré 700 Rally Edition will now receive a new 5-inch color TFT dash. The new dashboard features a choice of two screen themes to suit different riding situations.

In “Explorer” screen mode the focus is on the RPM scale, enabling the rider to concentrate on maintaining the strongest torque output for effective dirt riding performance. The “Street” screen is a more conventional look with analogue style circular dials. Both screen styles feature a clearly designed layout with easy to read icons and warning lights that enable the rider to stay focused on the road or track in front of them.
Smartphone Connectivity
Both Tenere 700 models will now be equipped with a Communication Control Unit (CCU) that enables smartphone connectivity. To activate the connectivity, the rider’s smartphone firstly needs to be linked to the machine via Bluetooth using Yamaha’s free MyRide app. As soon as the owner has linked their smartphone, they can see notifications of incoming calls, emails and text messages on the new 5-inch TFT screen, as well as monitor key parameters of the bike via the app.

If set up accordingly, the system can also notify the rider of any technical issue that may be detected on the Ténéré and can transmit a notification via email to a motorcycle dealer or any other contact that has been designated by the rider.
MyRide app also offers many other useful functions including monitoring all key parameters of the bike, tracking the route taken, as well as recording the distance covered, acceleration, top speed, elevation changes and much more. Data can be shared on social media, compared and discussed with other Yamaha Adventure riders on some of the many internet forums and dedicated social media groups.

Enhanced ABS modes
The previous model’s ABS system offered a choice of ON or OFF modes, and for 2023 both the Ténéré 700 and Ténéré 700 Rally Edition are equipped with an enhanced 3-mode ABS. Already featured on the World Raid model, this improved system enables the rider to select Full ON; Front wheel ON rear wheel OFF; and Full OFF.

Full ON is mandatory when riding on the street, Front wheel ON rear wheel OFF is designed for use in moderate off road riding where grip is not constant, while Full OFF is suitable for more extreme off road riding.
Pre-wired For Quickshifter
Both 2023 Ténéré 700 and Ténéré 700 Rally Edition are pre-wired for the fitment of an optional quick shifter system that is now available as a Yamaha Genuine Accessory.

Redesigned Brake Lever, New USB Socket, LED flashers
For improved durability the front brake lever has been redesigned to withstand accidental damage if the machine falls down. Other upgrades include a new USB socket in place of the previous 12V design, as well as LED flashers.

All fine and dandy….if they could just get the bike to dealerships…..Useless when there are none to buy….
Yes, what is going on with Yamaha USA? They don’t want to sell bikes?
Much less the WR model…
I think they should have addressed the problem with the exhaust hanger.
The elephant in the room. All the gizmos, gadgets and electronic crutches don’t make up for the heavy, poorly placed can on that flimsy hanger. I strongly recommend to anyone taking delivery of a T7 do this as your first mod if you are even thinking about riding anything more technical than a graded dirt road. I went with the Camel ADV Enduro bend pipe and a Black Widow Carbon can. There are now a decent selection of pipes, hangers and cans that will get the job done.
Huzar has a good quality high exhaust that’s very affordable at just $233 shipped to the USA. It also allows you to keep the rear foot pegs as well unlike some others.
If Yamaha wants to sell more they should produce more
Very difficult to find one at the dealers showrooms in the US
If i see them I’ll buy one, it is not happening…..
Come on Yamaha!
*No I do not want a used one at crazy stupid prices.
Do Yamaha update the suspension on the 2023 T700 and T700 Rally?
That is the WR World Raid model
Where’s the cruise control?
Google “mccruise cruise control tenere 700”. They make a nearly plug n play full on electric cruise control for the T7 that’s like a factory install. Great product.
So does it get now a real offroad ABS like eg the one 790/890/901 have? One were the front wheel is brake pressure is modulated in a way that will give you as short stopping distances as manual intervall braking, but with the increased safety of anti-locking brakes?
No updates for US models….
