Trail Tech Debuts Budget-Friendly Headset With Latest Mesh Tech
Communicate with up to 32 riders and enjoy other premium features for less.
There’s no question that Intercom Headsets have become a staple product for adventure riders, enhancing both the experience and safety of our travels. If you’re a new adventure rider, the expenses can add up quickly with the need for new gear, bike protection, luggage, camping gear, GPS… the list goes on. With this in mind, off-road accessories manufacturer Trail Tech just recently launched a new premium intercom headset designed with all the latest in tech but at a price that might save you a few bucks for those other ‘ADV necessities.’

The new ‘Adventure Headset’ lets you connect to up to 32 riders with the latest Mesh 3.0 technology. This tech allows riders to seamlessly connect and disconnect as they enter range, without affecting other riders in the group. Range between riders is a fairly standard 1.2 miles but as you expand the group, range also expands. Riders in the front and back can potentially communicate over many miles, as long as the standard range is not exceeded between riders in the group.
Trail Tech keeps it simple with no apps or software to mess with, just one button click to connect to all your friends over mesh. That puts you on an open channel though, which could potentially pick up other riders not in your group who ride with the same headset. But Trail Tech says you can switch over to a different channel with a simple button combination to avoid this.
You can also go old school and use Bluetooth 5.0, with the ability to connect up to 4 riders in a group. This allows you to connect with Sena and Cardo headsets using Bluetooth as well, which could potentially bring you into their proprietary Mesh networks. Unfortunately, you can’t connect to either Sena or Cardo directly over Mesh at this time, only through Bluetooth.

Trail Tech says a stand out feature is their extended battery life. The Adventure Headsets use a large 800 mAh battery that provides up to 18 hours of music play or stay connected on the Mesh Intercom for up to 13 hours. It also has fast charging capability with a USB-C Quick Charging port.
Trail Tech’s intercom also comes with a set of 40mm HD speakers, along with noise canceling technology that the company states provide top-notch sound quality for music and clear conversations over the intercom or phone. Siri or Google Assistant can be activated with voice commands, plus you can share your tunes with riders in your group when your favorite song comes on.
As far as installation, the package comes with either boom or stick-on microphone options with the ability to customize the fit for the speakers. The unit itself can be mounted to the helmet with either the included clamp or 3M adhesive option for an easy install.
One unique feature we really like is the integrated LED headlamp. This is a handy tool for roadside repairs in the dark, giving you the ability to work hands free. Or if you’ve ever gotten to camp at night and couldn’t find your camping light, you know how useful this could be. It even comes with an emergency flash mode in case you find yourself off in a ditch in need of help.
It’s good to see a new option in the market as Sena and Cardo have been dominant for some time. Perhaps with greater competition, we’ll continue to see improved pricing and value passed on to the consumer. This latest headset from Trail Tech looks like it has all the makings of a solid option, without some of the frills like “over-the-air” software updates, FM radio or a slick app. It’s also designed to be durable and weatherproof with an IP67 rating — enough to withstand rain and other tough trail conditions.

A single unit is $259.95 or $479.95 for the dual pack. This is not much cheaper than Sena or Cardo. I’d rather spend a fraction more and have the convenience of using an app than trying to remember button combinations.
