Royal Enfield Bringing Limited-Edition Versions Of 650 Twins To US

120th anniversary editions of the INT 650 and Continental GT 650 coming soon.

Published on 08.11.2022

Last November, Royal Enfield dropped the cover on limited edition variants of its popular INT 650 and Continental GT 650 at EICMA to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the company. These parallel twin classic-styled motorcycles, first introduced by Royal Enfield in 2018, are a modern rendition of the company’s legendary Interceptor models built in the 1960s. The new commemorative models have already become available worldwide and proven to be in high demand in several countries where they sold out in less than 24-hours of being released.

As for North America, Royal Enfield just issued a press release announcing that “the 120th Year Anniversary Edition INT 650 and Continental GT 650 motorcycles are nearly ready for their U.S. arrival.” These are ultra exclusive variants strictly limited to 60 units in the United States—30 of each. With only 480 units available worldwide, this is a unique opportunity for enthusiasts to own a rare edition of the company’s popular twin machines.

The pinstripes hand-painted over the tank pay homage to the legendary Madras stripes, a hallmark of Royal Enfield’s build traditions.

The special 120th Year Anniversary bikes have been designed and handcrafted by the company’s teams across the UK and India. The unique brass badges are crafted in collaboration with the Sirpi Senthil family, multi-generational artisans from the temple town of Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, India. Particularly specialized in making the elegant brass effigies for the most revered temples in India for centuries, this is the first time that these artisans have collaborated with any automotive brand.

Both variants feature exclusive plush seats in a rich brown shade with color-matched grips on the handlebar. The black-chrome tank color scheme has been developed in-house, with Royal Enfield’s chroming technology at the company’s original 1950’s manufacturing factory in Thiruvottiyur, Chennai, India. The motorcycles are chromed with an alternate, sustainable trivalent eco-friendly process.

To complement the black chrome tanks, both the Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650 will feature, for the first time, completely blacked out components, with the engine, silencer and other elements in an array of black color schemes. The bikes will also come equipped with a range of Genuine Motorcycle Accessories such as fly screens, engine guards, heel guards, touring and bar-end mirrors among others in a defining black to accent the overall design.

The 120th Year Anniversary Edition INT 650 and Continental GT 650s will also boast the iconic Royal Enfield hand-painted pinstripes. To make each motorcycle even more exclusive, the tank top badge will feature the unique serial number of each motorcycle indicating that it is 1 of 60 unique motorcycles in any of the four regions around the world. Additionally, the motorcycles will also adorn a side panel decal that is a special ode to Royal Enfield’s 120 years.

If you are interested in owning one of these limited edition models, Royal Enfield North America has launched a dedicated website with a sign up form to stay updated on their availability. Pricing for the U.S. hasn’t been announced yet but in Europe the Interceptor 650 was priced at £8,150 ($8,381), and the Continental GT650 at £8,350 ($8,587).

I’d love one of these beauties but with only 480 units world wide they’re as rare as hen’s teeth.
